Los Angeles County Trade and Investment Delegation Bolsters Exchange Between China and the US Security Industry

Shenzhen, China (April 9, 2014): Los Angeles county supervisor, Michael Antonivich, led a Trade delegation of councilmen and chief executives of various California-based industries to Shenzhen, China where delegates are seeking to build business relationships between the US and Chinese business sectors.

During his visit, Supervisor Antonivich and his delegation had a roundtable meeting sponsored by the Global Security Industry Alliance (GSIA) and Shenzhen Security and Protection Industry Association (SSPIA), during which local Shenzhen government officials and entrepreneurs met for in-depth dialogue regarding bilateral investment and future cooperation. This high-level business roundtable brought together a wide range of experts from the government, real-estate developers and security product manufacturers.

“I think it is a good opportunity for both parties to explore ways to give a boost to bilateral ties. During the meeting the delegation discussed cooperation with Shenzhen Security Protection Industry Association (SSPIA) in the field of the Security Industry. I believe the expansion of trade ties between the two regions will lead to sustainable business relations” said Richard Chace, Chairman of the GSIA.

President of SSPIA, Mr. Yang Jincai, indicated that “in the next stage the two sides can schedule to reach an agreement, setting up a road map to boost cooperation in a wide range of security industry products and services, or create a dedicated framework to enhance cooperation between the US Delegation and SSPIA in the area of relevant law enforcement.”

The two sides may engage in discussions on competition legislation, sharing non-confidential information on legislation, enforcement, multilateral competition initiatives and advocacy to the government, and engage in technical cooperation. It is a very inspiring moment for us to meet a group of outstanding delegates from the US and I hope there will be fruitful results after the meeting” continued Yang.

The US Delegation also visited the Shenzhen Civic Center to take part in a conference with the mayor of Futian District and other government officials in various departments. As Chace noted, “This is another example of how promoting information sharing among multi-national organizations will always lead to strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation which is one of the five leading principles of the GSIA Charter.”
